
The Battle
9:00pm: The sun's just gone down and it's freezing. Most of the gunshots have stopped now but there are still a few explosions in the background. It hasn't been a very good day today. I narrowly avoided a gunshot, but sadly a fellow recruit didn't. He almost died and he's critically ill in hospital. One of our patrolers was shot but wasn't seriously injured. I signed up to the Army to forget bad times, but it just seems to bring them all back. I've only been here two months but I have experienced a lot. I'd love to see it's all good but sadly it's not. I just have to look forward to things like my homecoming. Anyway I've got to go now because it's an early start tomorrow. Better get to sleep now, I'll be back in the morning.
5:00am: Another rough night. It's still dark but it's a bit warmer now. It's a long day ahead of me. We've got an 8 mile march and who knows what events will happen. Some terrible news hit camp this morning. The injured recruit passed away during the night due to severe injuries and blood loss. It's time like this i wonder why I signed up. But i must never give up. That brave young man died for his country. He signed up the same day i did, maybe i'll be next....
12:30pm: We're all exhausted but when you join you know what lies in store for you; hard work, sleepless nights and a lot of risk taking. We've set up camp for some dinner before we get back out there. There is still a lot of work to be done and not many of us to do it. The numbers are dropping so we work twice as hard but one day we will win. We'll bring peace to the world, and allow everyone to safely live their lives. There's a lot of panic and we've got to rush there's not much time because the enemy are closing in. This is it. All the fighting and hardwork has come to this. It's my turn to go.
