The Final Stand
"Lieutenant Forge, take your men to the left behind the large boulders to wait until the voltorks have passed completely; Lieutenant Steele, take yours to the right. Once they pass those two points I want both of your teams to form a line behind them and we will slowly close them in."
Capt. Summers, Lt. Forge, and Lt. Steele grew up together in a small suburban town in northern Texas where the most trouble they got into was driving out to their friends farms and cow-tipping while no one was watching them. All of this changed when they joined the Marine Corps. All three of the boys' fathers were involved in the Corps while the boys were young and all earned many medals for bravery and courage, playing key parts to the first victory over the Voltorks while they were still entering the Milky Way Galaxy. The people of Earth were able to live peacefully for the next five years until the alien force broke through the outer defense systems and invaded Earth's space. A lot of pressure was placed upon the boys to step up to the challenge and take over where their father's left off so many years before, but with so little time to prepare, they were almost immediately thrust into battle at the highest ranks to take control and try to bring an end to this war once and for all, leading up to the final battle where this story begins...
"Watch Out!" yells Captain Summers as plasma bursts land all around his team and turn the ground surrounding them into glass, breaking into tiny shards with each step his men take to try and get over the hill just behind them to evade the oncoming Voltorks.
"Lieutenant Forge, take your men to the left and hide behind the far boulders, Steele you go right and do the same. Wait until their last troop crosses your points and flank them from behind...I'm going to go activativate G.O.D.".
G.O.D. stands for Global Operation Destroyer" and is a breaking-edge gun whose sole purpose is to rake the Earth's surface with enough energy, it could theoretically burn a hole clear through both sides. It has never been used before.
Using the dust kicked up from the massive force marching slowly towards them, Forge and his team steadily advance towards his rocky haven now 200 meters away. All seemed to be going well when, from out of the haze of filth floating in the air, a faint glimmer of light starts to flicker on and off. It cannot be...
"Oh No! Hurry men, get behind those rocks now! Steele, try and focus your fire right above that blinking light. If I am correct, that is the harness arouind the neck of their Tancor and if he gets a hold of us, life up to this point will feel like we have been laying in a bed of Daisies".
"I get the point!" Exclaims Steele. "Men, do as Forge says".
Suddenly the air is filled with gunfire from both ends, the dirt dissapating as the bullets slice through it and create a tunnel whirring towards the Tancor. It seems like hours pass as clips are emptied into the stone hide of this magnificent creature, when all of the sudden a loud roar is heard from its deep chest and the light sinks to the ground.
"Whew that was close." says Steele. "Captain, how long until you get the G.O.D. online?"
"Just a few more minutes, but the radius of the beam is much to small to hit all of the Voltorks at once...try and get them to squeeze together in a tigher circle."
"Are you kidding?!" asks the baffled Lieutenant. "We almost saw the whites of a Tancor's eyes and you are asking us to get closer to the enemy?"
"Just do it Steele, if you don't we will be flanked and could lose the war."
"YEEEHAW! Steele what are you, chicken?" yells Forge from the distance. "I've already taken down a Tancor by myself and am almost in position. If you don't get to your spot right now, I am going to make a special visit to your sister when I get home!"
"Do it and I will shove the barrel of my .50 Cal Sniper Rifle up your britches and blow a hole out the top of your head!" Steele yells in reply.
"Point that gun towards the battle field, your spot is about to be overrun." remarks Forge, and he was right. While Steele was busy complaining about the Captain's plans, he almost let the Voltorks take his position. Quickly Steele runs towards the boulders, unstrapping a grenade and pulling the pin in case he encounters any resistance along the way. A shadow develops on the rock beside him right as soon as he gets to cover and lets the grenade fly free, landing at the feet of a straying Voltork. With one high-pitched scream, the boulders are now empty of any infidel.
"Captain, the last of the rear guard are passing our position I speak" whispers Steele. "Forge, get ready to step out and close in." Steele readys two more grenades to try and force the crowd together in a tighter-knit circle. The two captains step away from their cover and quickly move into action. Steele's team had already started migrating toward the middle of the battlefield as Forge's stepped out from behind the rocks and the voltork's realized what was about to happen.
"Hurry throw the grenades!" yells a ground troop. Each team threw about ten grandes before any of the Voltorks could get a shot off and the damage had been dealt on the back side. Quickly, they all start to run towards the captains position as they flee from both of the lieutenants.
"Quickly Captain, fire now!" yells Forge.
"Darn, the metal shields are blocking my targeting sensor and I can't place the mark on the crowd....I have to go outside and mark the ground." replies Summers.
"No, you wont' survive!" yells Steele.
"This is above all of us, I have to do this..." explains Captain Summers as he steps out the front door of the fort which houses the controls to the G.O.D. device. As he does, all of the men look up and see what appears to be a second sun lighting up the sky. G.O.D. is online. Without needing to be told what to do, all of the men start running backwards, away from the alien crowd and towards a nearby river, which they planned on using for cover. As soon as the last man jumped into the water, a blinding light came from the sky and blanketed the Earth where the Voltorks stood.
When the dust clears, there is nothing to be seen...not even the boulders both teams hid behind are still standing. Everything has been decimated. If it wasn't for the efforts of Captain Summers, the war could have very well been lost that very day, but because of his heroic efforts, the humans have a chance to rise up and regain their beloved planet from the alien horde that descended upon them. Steele and Forge continued to fight side by side until the end of the war where they both died on the battlefield and were burried next to their best childhood friend and world renound hero.

My apologies for accidentally forgetting to take out the first paragraph lol....read from the second one down and it should flow much better.
