Crime, Mystery and Abstract
You think when the jury says " We find the defendent guilty" you will feel better. You think you will feel releif that he is locked away. Later, when the judge sentences him the death penalty, you think you will feel happy. You think you will finally be able to sleep through the night or go five minutes without thinking about him and what he has done. But you can't and you don't. Instead, your stomach drops and you are filled with despair. Nothing can bring her back. Never again will you see her smile or hear her late-night whispers or feel her fingers entwined in yours. Instead of memories of her, your head is filled with hateful thoughts of him. Nothing you think that will help does. You think time will heal, but you are hopeless. And there is nothing else you can do but wait.
